Ronaldo and Juventus squad cut down $100 million in wages amid pandemic outbreak!

With the ongoing spread of the pandemic, football season is now on hold across the world. To help the club ease the economic impact, Juventus’ first-team squad and coach Maurizio Sarri has announced that they would give up a total of four months’ wages. According to Juventus, the agreement (including March, April, May and June payment) will save them a hefty number of €90 million ($100.5 million).

Juventus is now the top of Serie A and so far leading Lazio by one point in the race for the Scudetto. It is one of Europe’s biggest and by far the country most successful domestically club. In their statement, the club has “thank the players and the coach for their commitment at a difficult time for everyone. 

On the other hand, it biggest star, has also donated €1 million ($1.1 million) to support the fight angainst the pandemic in his native Portugal. This donation will help fund two intensive care units for Lisbon’s Hospital de Santa Maria. Furthermore, it will also support the equip of one ward in Porto’s Santo Antonio hospital with a total of 15 intensive care beds. While all sport events in Italy are canceled until April 3; Juve claimed it will renegotiate with its players “in good faith” if the current season could be rescheduled and resumed. Juventus, which is top of Serie A and leading Lazio by one point in the race for the Scudetto, is one of Europe’s biggest club and by far Italy’s most successful domestically.
