China stockpiled 2 billion face shields and 25m medical gears!

With the pandemic causing a significant rise in demand for medical supplies, China has been stockpiling on various necessary types of equipment. In details, they have obtained more than two billions of surgical masks, thus affecting the worldwide shortage of protective gear. Furthermore, these masks and additionally, twenty-five million pieces came from Australia and other countries between January and March.

Last week, the Chinese government reported more details on their foreign trade number for the first two months of 2020 had been revealed. When the virus broke out and starting hitting its peak, the government launched a global campaign to recruit Chinese-owned companies in various foreign countries to stockpile different stocks of the items. Notably, the big buy-up had begun when the coronavirus started spreading globally.

China has reported seeing a “rapid growth in imports of commodities and key consumer goods”; which comprised a total of 2.46 billion medical supply items. The list includes masks, gloves, hand sanitiser, hazmat suits, ventilators and other materials. Based on the report, the National Customs in China has inspected the billions of items within January 24 and February 29. Moreover, it expedited the speedy entry of supplies by abandoning customs clearing protocols for “epidemic prevention and control materials” reason. 

Big buy-up plan

Previously, Australian media has revealed that a Chinese property company within the country has shipped more than 80 tonnes of masks plus essential supplies to their homeland. Moreover, Risland Australia also transported hundreds of thousands of items in mid-February. There was also another property company who was redeploying its Sydney staff to go out on a medical shopping spree.
