Canada is working to bring thousands home from Overseas through massive airlift!
In the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, Canada is carrying out a massive airlift plan to help their people home at with cost. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shared the plan in a live broadcast on Monday. “For Canadians stranded abroad, we are working with airlines to get people home,”. At the same time, he also stressed on the importance of ‘social distancing’ for the public during the rise of coronavirus cases globally.
So far, Canadian Foreign Minister, François-Philippe Champagne reveals that nearly 10.000 calls; and 48.000 emails in 48 hours from Canadians who want to go home have reached his office. According to him, it is “probably the largest repatriation effort in Canada’s history in peacetime”. While a big number of Canadian citizens and residents have returned to Canada in the past weeks; the process of travelling is becoming harder for others.
Champagne said he had to negotiate flights in many areas where there are airspace or airport closures or even near-martial law. The flights that they conduct this week will help bring Canadians from Morocco, Spain, Honduras, Ecuador, El Salvador and Guatemala home. Notably, all staff will be checking the health of all passengers before boarding ; and they must follow the guide to self-isolate for 14 days. For now, international flights are only allowed to land at four airports: Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Previously, Canada has begun limiting international landings from March 18 to increase screening. “Enough is enough,” Trudeau said, “Go home and stay home, this is what we all need to be doing.”

Trudeau has announced that Government is going to start the national promotion campaign to raise awareness for social-distancing and hygiene. Whereas, he urges all Canadians to participate in helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
