Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab is ‘confident’ Prime Minister will recover from illness!
Presenting at U.K. coronavirus update briefing, Mr Raab has given the public more information regarding Mr Johnson’s current situation. According to him, the prime minister remained in “good spirits” and could breathe without assistance. Furthermore, he also described that Mr Johnson is “also a friend”, not only a colleague like many thought. “All of our thoughts and prayers are with the prime minister at this time; with Carrie, and with his whole family.
And I’m confident he’ll pull through because if there’s one thing I know about this prime minister, he’s a fighter. And he’ll be back at the helm, leading us through this crisis in short order”. Previously, he as admitted to the hospital when he started showing “persistent symptoms” of Covid-19 last week. On Monday, No 10 (headquarters of the Government of the United Kingdom) stated that the PM was in intensive care. However, his condition remained ‘stable’.
More information on his health should arrive today. Finally, Mr Raab claimed he had “total confidence” in the arrangements Mr Johnson had put in place. Buckingham Palace also stated the Queen had sent a message to Mr Johnson’s family, wishing the PM a full and speedy recovery. Lastly, Prince William also shared a tweet to the PM’s family; while his father, the Prince of Wales, addressed a letter from himself and the Duchess of Cornwall wishing Mr Johnson a “speedy recovery”.
Current situation
The death tolls in the U.K. rose to 6,159; according to the Department of Health and Social Care. This number is a record increase of 786 in a day, compared with 439 on Monday. On the other hand, a total of 213,181 people have been tested by Tuesday.
