Back in Thursday, DiCaprio and philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs have announced the start of their America’s Food Fund. Notably, the organization has already managed to gather a sum of $12M to aid those who were affected by the pandemic. In details, they will be able to support low-income families, the elderly. Besides, there are also individuals facing job disruptions and children who have to rely on school lunch programs.
So far, big companies like Apple and the Ford Foundation will also be providing money to help launch this new initiative. On the other hand, the fun is going to work with hunger relief organizations; World Central Kitchen and Feeding America in their journey. DiCaprio released a statement recently, sharing more about the project. “Organizations like World Central Kitchen and Feeding America; have inspired us all with their unwavering commitment to feed the most vulnerable people in need.
I thank them for their tireless work on the frontlines; they deserve all of our support”. Furthermore, Oprah Winfrey announced in Thursday that she already made a $1 million donation to the fund. Additionally, she has so far given $10 million in total to feed the hungry during the outbreak. “In times of need, a plate of food is both vital nourishment and a message of hope from the community; that we care and we’re here to make sure that tomorrow, things will be better,” claimed José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen. “With millions losing their jobs and programs like school lunches in jeopardy; making sure people aren’t going hungry is of the utmost urgency,” shared Powell Jobs.

Coronavirus has led to the start of a massive global pandemic that affected hundreds of thousands of people. Up to now, the death tolls globally have reached more than 47,000 worldwide. On the other hand, it also hurt the economies as many countries are forced to shut down; or stop all activities to prevent the spread of the virus.
